Sensual Movement Chicago

What is on

Workshops, pre-social classes and socials

Every pre-social class is built to get you moving and connected before the social starts — whether you are learning the basics or adding layers. Socials play mostly bachata, sensual and traditional, with some remixes.

Usual venue
Dance Center Chicago, 3868 N Lincoln Ave, 2nd Floor, IL 60613

There is no schedule on this page, and there is nothing on sale. The live version says “workshops are coming in January 2026” — that was eight months ago — and its ticket link points at the January 2026 weekender, which has been and gone. Chicago currently has no upcoming event anywhere in the Sensual Movement ticket store. Until there is one, this page should say what happens weekly and when, or say plainly that the next date is being planned.

Questions

Before you come

What is Sensual Movement Chicago?+

A dance company rooted in bachata sensual — musicality, fluid body movement and partner connection. Classes build body awareness, expression and confidence, solo or with a partner.

Do I need dance experience?+

Not at all. Classes are beginner-friendly, with enough depth for experienced dancers.

What happens in a first class?+

A welcoming room, a guided warm-up, easy-to-follow instruction and time to practise with music.

What should I wear?+

Anything you can move in. Studio classes are casual — leggings, joggers, workout wear. For socials most people dress up slightly, but always something you can dance in.

Is there a weight, age or gender limit?+

No. Open to every body, 18+, all genders.

Is the studio LGBTQIA+ friendly?+

Yes. A safe, inclusive space for all identities.

Do you offer private lessons?+

Yes, one-on-one lessons for more personalised attention.

Do I need a partner for the socials?+

No. Partners rotate every song, so you dance with lots of people.

Is there a dress code at socials?+

No strict code. Most wear a step up from workout clothes, never formal.

What music is played?+

Mostly bachata, sensual and traditional, with occasional remixes.
